Meet Bill

Born in Connecticut in the 1950s, Bill Olear was raised with an understanding of hard work and authenticity. Like many families in that era, Bill’s mother stayed home to raise him and his 3 siblings while his father worked as a supermarket manager. Values like respect, honesty, and hard work were ingrained into his family life.

After graduating from the University of Connecticut, Bill began a career with Mobil Oil. Bill learned first-hand the importance of relationship building while implementing the very values he learned in his youth in his 23-year tenure at Mobil. Through his tenacity, authenticity, and hard work, Bill rose to become a sales manager serving much of Western New York.

Bill married his first wife, Helene and together they were blessed with a son, Michael.  At 3 years old, Michael was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. Bill and Helene navigated the challenging waters of raising a child with special needs learning valuable lessons in caregiving, healthcare policy and parent advocacy.  Raising a child with special needs helped formulate much of Bill’s ideology about healthcare and healthcare reform in the US.

Bill and Helene continued to co-parent Michael after their separation. Bill remarried in 2007 to Lynn and together they moved to Arizona with Michael to provide a better environment for his health.  In 2011, Bill and Lynn opened the very popular, award-winning restaurant, New York Flavor, in Surprise. As a member of the Northwest Chamber of Commerce, Bill and his team catered for the Kansas City Royals, Texas Rangers, and many Northwest Chamber of Commerce events. In 2017, Bill became a realtor to help families find equitable housing in Arizona. The importance of providing equitable home ownership opportunities found those childhood values once again lending to Bill’s success. Bill continues to be active in Surprise, first serving on the board at WHAM! Arts Association and currently as a board member for the Vista Center for the Arts.

Throughout his time in Arizona, Bill has observed a steady decline in the quality of life in LD 25. While our current political leaders spend their time admiring and even exploiting our problems, LD 25 needs solutions. Issues like small business growth, water conservation, climate change, public schools, and sustainable healthcare for our elderly and vulnerable continue to be ignored by our elected officials. LD 25 needs someone like Bill Olear who will take action; not cater to special interests or worry about re-election.

The values Bill learned as a child; honesty, hard work, and respect, will be the same values he leads with as LD 25 State Representative. Bill will be the voice for our community and will deliver results, not empty promises. His experiences in corporate America, in small business, as a special needs parent, and as a community leader all make Bill a well-rounded candidate. Bill knows what it takes to lead. He knows what it takes to develop communities. He knows the value of family and how the government can support people to live their own American Dream. End the broken promises of the past and elect a candidate who will be solutions oriented and improve the quality of life in LD 25. Vote for Bill, and Bill will get it done.
